Kenya’s Celebration of Space through Art

I had the honor of delivering the opening speech at the Space Extravaganza event at the Nairobi Gallery, where a new temporary exhibition unveils the powerful intersection of space and art.

Space ignites artistic imagination, while art in turn makes the cosmos more accessible to all. Through this creative lens, the new space exhibit aims to inspire the next generation of Kenyan space enthusiasts and innovators. The display demonstrates that space isn’t just about technology and science – it’s also about human creativity.

This unique fusion of art and astronomy is advancing space education and outreach in Kenya, encouraging students, professionals, and enthusiasts to see themselves as part of humanity’s greatest adventure.

This collaboration between science and creativity continues Kenya’s impressive momentum in space exploration, following the successful launch of Kenya’s first Earth observation satellite Taifa-1 in 2023 and the Kenya Space Agency‘s Kenya Space Bill 2024, proving that space belongs to everyone with the imagination to reach for it, as Kenya builds its space capabilities and inspires future generations.

Thank you to Bram Nakholi, founder of the Space Society of Kenya, for the invitation. The event was organized in partnership with UNASSA.
