The GOIS 2026 objective was clear: bring together entrepreneurs, industry leaders, researchers, agencies, and institutions to build the partnerships that will enable the orbital infrastructure economy, with Switzerland as the platform.
Over two inspiring days in Lucerne, ideas became conversations, conversations became partnerships, and partnerships became the foundations for future innovation. That progression is precisely what events like this should deliver.
A central pillar of the summit was the work of the Space Systems Innovation Platform (SSIP), based at Technopark Luzern. Founded and led by Paulo Pinhero, SSIP has built a structured ecosystem connector bridging academia, industry, research institutions, and global partners across space, microgravity, and advanced manufacturing. Paulo was an outstanding host: engaged, generous, and genuinely committed to making connections matter beyond the conference room.
I had the privilege of participating in two panels: Building the Orbital Industrial Era and From Regulation to Reality — both of which generated a substantive debate on the structural and regulatory challenges as well as commercial opportunities defining the next phase of orbital infrastructure.
For me personally, the two days were exceptionally productive. I made a significant number of new contacts, professionals working at the intersection of orbital infrastructure and the emerging commercial space economy. The quality of the conversations reflected the quality of the attendees.

This is only the beginning with conversations already in progress. I am already looking forward to next year’s edition and fully expect the ecosystem to grow further as more companies will expand their work to include space.
